Wealth Management That Makes Your Money Work Harder for You
You’ve worked hard to build what you have. The question now is how to make it all work together — your investments, your retirement income, your taxes, and the legacy you want to leave.
As an independent, fee-based wealth management firm in Champaign, IL, we help families across Central Illinois manage, grow, and pass on their wealth with a plan built around a future that brings them joy — and the peace of knowing it’s all taken care of.
What Questions Does a Wealth Manager Answer?
Most folks who come to us aren’t looking for a “hot stock” tip — they want someone to help them see the whole picture: the 401(k)s, brokerage accounts, rental properties, maybe a stake in the family business — and ensure that it all works together.
These are some of the questions that are on clients’ minds when they first come to us:
- Am I actually on track to retire when I want to or do I need to save more?
- Is my money working as hard as I am or should I invest it differently?
- How much will taxes take out of my retirement income, and can we plan around that?
- What happens to all of this when I am gone, and will my family know what to do?
Good planning doesn’t make your financial life more complicated. It makes it easier to understand — and a whole lot lighter to carry.
What Is Wealth Management?
Wealth management is the ongoing coordination of your investments, retirement income, tax planning, risk management, and estate planning — all working toward one shared set of financial goals.
Think of it this way: a financial plan is the blueprint, and wealth management is the whole build — it puts the plan into motion and keeps every piece working together, year after year, as your life and the markets change.
At LifeWise, that means we’re not just choosing investments. We’re helping you decide how much to save, when to draw income, how to keep more of what you earn after taxes, and how to hand things off to the next generation on your terms. The portfolio is just one tool inside a much bigger plan.

Wealth Management FAQs
What's the difference between wealth management and financial planning?
A financial plan is the blueprint — it answers the big questions like when you can retire, how much to save, and whether the pieces are on track. Wealth management is the whole build: we manage the investments, the retirement income, and everything needed to carry out your plan, year after year. At LifeWise, you can start with a standalone flat-fee financial plan and decide from there.
What are the fees for wealth management at LifeWise?
There are two ways to work with us. You can start with a standalone, flat-fee financial plan with no further commitment. Or you can hire us as your ongoing financial advisor for a fee based on a percentage of the assets we manage, which covers both your investment management and your ongoing financial planning. We’re happy to walk you through the full fee structure in our first meeting, with complete transparency and no obligation.
Do I need a certain amount of money to work with LifeWise?
You don’t need to have a certain balance before reaching out. Because you can begin with a standalone financial planning engagement, many people start with us while they’re still building. We’re happy to talk through whether our services fit your situation.
Are you a fiduciary?
Yes. As an independent registered investment adviser, LifeWise Wealth Advisors provides advice in your best interest.
How do I choose a financial advisor in Champaign, IL or in the Central Illinois area?
Start with three questions. Is the advisor a fiduciary, legally required to act in your best interest? How are they paid — and will they explain it plainly? How do they approach financial planning and can you meet face to face with the person who will actually manage your plan? A trustworthy financial advisor will welcome all three questions.
How is LifeWise different from a big national firm?
We’re independent and local. That means our recommendations aren’t tied to a parent company’s products and your advisor is someone you can actually sit across the table from and build a lasting relationship with. If you want to visit one of our offices, we have financial advisors in Champaign, IL, in Bethany, in St. Joseph, and in Paris, IL. If you’re located elsewhere, we’re also happy to advise you remotely through video conference calls.
Where do you serve clients?
Our main office is in Champaign, IL and we serve families throughout Central Illinois, with additional offices in Bethany, in St. Joseph, and in Paris, IL.
Can you coordinate with my CPA and/or attorney?
Yes. We regularly work alongside outside professionals. If you’d like, you can also have our affiliated firm, LifeWise Tax Advisors, help you with tax preparation. Part of our job is making sure the different parts of your financial life are pulling in the same direction.
Do you help with retirement income, not just growing my savings?
Yes. Planning the income side of retirement — how much to withdraw, in what order, and with what tax impact — is one of the most important things we do. Learn more on our Financial Planning page.
Are your financial goals on track?
Our FREE, no obligation consultation provides the answer.
